To Whom it may concern,
Whether you are a first year college student, or in a doctoral program, the college life can tangle your emotions in a web. No matter what university or college program you are enrolled in; anxiety, confusion, and doubt’s magnetic forces are non-discriminatory. There may come a point where it seems like negativity has a hit list, and your name resides at the top. Financial Aid falls through, you fail a big exam, there’s drama back home with your family, and all of the other dreadful college mishaps occur. With these annoying things, you may find yourself searching for something outside of your current life.
With times like this, self-doubt may begin to take the wheel on your journey. Without even knowing, you start to withdraw from the path you always knew you would conquer. Rome was not built in a day…and they sure didn’t do it perfectly on the first try. Failure and mishaps will occur, but you can’t allow them to separate you from your ambition. Take a step back and breathe. Whatever is designed for you to learn from the “experience”, soak it up. Use it as leverage as you push forward.
Along your journey in college, you may find yourself a bit off track. Trust me, it’s not always a walk in the park when trying to find your way in life. Maybe the struggle is attributed to the fact that you have no idea what you want in life. Or maybe you know exactly what you want to evolve into, but you are not the slightest bit informed on what it takes to accomplish this. (& it doesn’t help that everyone you know, now greets you with “What’s your plan?”) This crossroad of life makes you begin to question if your journey is really heading in the right direction? You begin to rethink the goals you once established, and even doubt the skills and knowledge you possess. Life is a journey, that offers many sites to see. It’s okay to venture off the course and check out new attractions, but don’t let these things, make you doubt your own path.
The good news is you’ll come out on the other side better than you started. Your college experience is a journey within itself. You will find yourself in search of who you are really meant be. Don’t let anyone derail your expedition of life…not even yourself.
I wish you the best of luck on your journey! Take Care ☺️
No Need to Rush…
Hey You…eyes glimmering with desire.
I’d like to offer some advice, and no this is not satire.
You see, I’ve been in your position before.
Full of hope and ready to explore.
But I didn’t know how to pump the brake.
So I’m writing this for your sake.
It’s a new school year and you watched as your loved one drives away.
You’re thinking “it’s my time now and no one can stand in my way”.
The truth is, there is someone who can block your dreams.
I mean, they can really tear them right at the seam.
It’s you my friend, and I hope you can truly understand.
This journey shouldn’t be rushed if you really want to expand.
